Airplane Heating On The Runway

All Seasons Hire have provided a heating package for workers loading a cargo plane. The bespoke package includes an indirect fired heater and power generation.

The Red Star 85 diesel heater was supplied during cold conditions to ensure workers loading the cargo plane could get the job completed safely and on time. Use of the indirect fired unit meant that the heater could be easily located on the tarmac outside of the aircraft with the clean, heated air ducted in though an open hatch.

Flexible Delivery

Delivery flexibility was key for this project. The order for the equipment was placed in good time however the arrival of the plane remained subject to change. As it turned out the delivery location would need to be changed completely with the destination airport being altered. Prompt delivery was also essential as the heating was only required for the one day that the aircraft was being loaded.

Installation of the equipment was further complicated by the airside location. Here All Seasons Hire’s extensive experience of working on airport sites was perfectly applied with the delivery engineer selected for the job holding all the necessary passes.

Additional Support

The isolated location of the aircraft on the airport apron also necessitated a self contained power supply for the heater. As part of the project it was arranged for a 20kVA genrator to be in place, supplied by Abird. This unit includes a built in distribution board to supply the 16A 230v requirement of heater, all the necessary cabling was also included.

All Seasons Hire are able to provide bespoke packages, including power generation and distribution, for projects of all sizes from portable heating to multi-boiler packages. For further information please contact us on 0800 082 8001 or info@allseasonshire.com.
